FIFTEENTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY 2022

Today I was well enough to get back to work. Reminders: Sunday October 9, Archbishop Haverland will be at Saint Benedict's to celebrate and preach at 10:00. The following Saturday, August 15, he will return to ordain Nicholas Harrelson to the Diaconate at Saint Benedict's at 10:30. To view the video from this Sunday, with the Collect, the readings and my sermon, you may use the link below.

I have a question. I recently saw the new King of England (Charles III) sware an oath to "maintain and preserve the Settlement of the true Protestant Religion and presbyterian government of the Church of Scotland." And I couldn't help wondering if his his mother (Queen Elizabeth II), and her ancestor (Queen Elizabeth I) had to take the same oath? And if they did, how could they if they were truly Catholic? How could Queen Elizabeth I sware to maintain and preserve the Settlement of the true prostestant religion and presbyterian government of the Church of Scotland if she were truly catholic, and truely believed in episcopacy? Could someone please explain this to me?

It goes back a long time, and the official Anglican Church in Scotland was therefore named The Episcopal Church (a name they passed on when their Bishops consecrated the first American Bishops). Tolerating the practices of those who are not in full agreement and Communion is not a renunciation of one's own faith.
