Battle Music

This has nothing to do with our general subject matter, but sometimes we need a break. Monday is, when possible, a day off for most clergy. So, yesterday, my youngest son made a video of me playing one of my compositions (I wrote this in 1980). So, think in terms of Ephesians 6 and spiritual warfare.

Canon Tallis (as a reader calls himself) suggested that we make use of videos and YouTube. I did not have the technology, or any idea of how good it is and easy to get. I think we are getting there.

That is very stirring indeed! Very nice, father. I am an amateur musician too, having studied classical guitar for many years. Thanks for posting this.

Wow! That music actually does remind me of Ephesians 6:10-20. It seems that from now on we will have to refer to you as "the multi-talented Fr. Robert Hart"!

Thanks for sharing that with us.

Interesting piece, Fr. Hart. I wonder how it would sound on a pipe organ?

And thank you and your son for this. First I really, really loved the music. Wow! And secondly, you need to do some more composing - lots.

Thirdly, try a simple said service of the Eucharist with a clerk to read the epistle and serve. Follow all the prayer book rubrics - no TARPing and post that. Oh and take four of those candlesticks off the altar. They are a post Reformation innovation.

And on the composing - a kyrie with the energy of that piano piece with the idea that it was originally intended as an act of praise, a Christian equivalent of "O King live forever!"

Listening to that made me feel so, so good.

If 'Onward, Christian soldiers' is too militaristic for ECUSA, this piece would scare the daylights out of 'em!

A strong, expressive piece. Not pretty, but battle is seldom pretty. Overall, an excellent work!

The ECUSAns need all the daylights they can get; I would rather scare the hell out of them.

Very fine, Fr. Hart. Thank you.

I don't know Fr. Hart, this sounds more Lutheran a la Martin than music of Hooker's via media...
... obviously kidding!

I enjoyed watching and listening to your fine performance. I especially liked the flair with which you played the keys. Thanks for the recital.

Yes, more of this please. But I actually prefer this means of posting it than you-tube, as it runs almost without interruption on my relatively slow broadband, whereas You-Tube is frustratingly slow for me. This was great.

Thank you, Fr Hart.
