A new prayer for the Episcopal "Church"

by William Hull

Our Mother, who art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy Femininity.

Thy queendom come, our will be done

On earth and in heaven.

Give us this day everything we want.

And forgive us our debts

And help us garnish our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from consequences.

For thine is the queendom, and the power,

And the glory, for now,

And the foreseeable future. Apeople

Delighted to see it's not a perversion of 1662.

This is uncannily similar to the "Lord's" prayer that was put into the Queen's Golden Jubilee service in 2002 in Dartford (CofE)Parish Church. Thankfully, the choirmaster had arranged it for the Choir to sing Stone's setting of the Lord's prayer according to the 1662 BCP and thus circumvented any problems within the service itself. However, it is clear that this "inclusive" language has been around a long time, and may Our Father which art in Heaven deliver us from this evil!

I fear Mr. Hull will be in for a barracking on account of 'heteronormativity' - but perhaps it could be remedied by extensive and varied pop-down menus for three of the crucial nouns (or should I saw, 'crescential'? - such lists, in any case, are waxing).
