Remember in your prayers...

I have been informed of the following:

"Eudora Campese passed away this morning. She was in the hospital on life support suffering from a brain aneurysm. Please keep Bishop Campese and the Campese family in your prayers. Rest eternal grant unto her O Lord and let light perpetual shine upon her."

Eudora Campese was the wife of Bishop Louis Campese of the ACA. Laying aside differences on current issues, I add my voice in asking for prayers for the departed and for the bereaved.

  2. For One Departed.

ALMIGHTY God, we remember this day before thee thy handmaid Eudora, and we pray thee that, having opened to her the gates of larger life, thou wilt receive her more and more into thy joyful service; that she may win, with thee and thy servants everywhere, the eternal victory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

REST + eternal grant unto her, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon her. May her soul, + and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

    For Those Who Mourn.

ALMIGHTY God, Father of mercies and giver of all comfort; Deal graciously, we pray thee, with all those who mourn, especially thy servants Bishop Louis and the Campese family, that, casting every care on thee, they may know the consolation of thy love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thanks for posting this Fr. Hart. The readers of the Continuum will no doubt be interested to read an account of Eudora's final hours given by Fr. Scott Whitmore via the Anglo-Catholic:

I would like to offer some testimony about the circumstances of Eudora’s final hours.

Eudora has been a regular attendee at the Cathedral’s Wednesday night Bible studies for some years, which immediately follows Wednesday night Evening Prayer and Mass. She was a great student: she “read, marked, learned and inwardly digested” Sacred Scripture and added to our discussions, she fully supported me as a teacher, and she encouraged not a few people to join the class. Well, we had recently begun a study of Revelation, and last night we covered Our Lord’s messages to Ephesus and Smyrna. She was thoughtful about the word “paradise” in verse 7, a garden of delights where there was no more death, no more pain. And upon reading verse 10 — “be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life” — she remarked at how cool it would be to be given a literal crown to wear. It was mere minutes after this, as we were wrapping up for the night, that she fell from the aneurysm that would shortly prove fatal.

Thanks be to God that, if this had to happen, that it happened as it did. She did not die at home alone, or worse, behind the wheel of her car. She was at the church she loved so much, having received the Blessed Sacrament, contemplating the glories of Heaven, surrounded by her husband and many friends.

I am sure all of this was more than coincidence. May the Lord take such pity on me, a sinner, as to give me so good a death as that. I look forward to meeting her again, and seeing her wearing that crown.

  5. May the Lord grant eternal rest unto the handmaid of God Eudora, and provide healing and consolation to Bishop Louis and the Campese family and to their wider TAC family. Memory eternal!
