Then when you give the most basic of explanations, they immediately remember one of 3 things. <br /><br />1) Oh the church that formed so Henry VIII could get a divorce. <br /><br />2) The church with married priests.<br /><br />3) The church with women priests.<br /><br />To them I usually will give one more shot at explaining one of the three. <br /><br />1) it is a lot more than that. The reformations were about fixing errors in the church, and by the way Anglicans still do not have divorce but a similar annulment process to other churches. <br /><br />2) Yes like the Orthodox and even some churches in communion with Rome, we do allow Priests to marry, just as allowed in scripture. <br /><br />3) We most certainly do not.
