Lord knows that the ACC, APCK, and UECNA are not perfect and they are not even the whole of the Continuum, But they would be a much better home for those parishes, those Christians who want to remain true Anglicans.

The point here is that to call yourself an Anglican and to be publicly planning to leave for the Roman obedience is to raise questions as to whether you ever truly wanted to be Anglican in the first place. The only honest path is for every man, every bishop, priest and deacon and every parish to do what they believe to be the best and most right path - and to do it quickly. But the most important thing is to not lie to yourself and your flock about what Rome is both offering and demanding. They have long been jerked around by ignorant and unqualified bishops, assisted by their gangs of thugs, bullies, and disbarred lawyers.
LKWAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18902745.post-11567713729549908532010-06-16T20:18:52.394-04:002010-06-16T20:18:52.394-04:00There is a point missing here and Canon Talis has ...There is a point missing here and Canon Talis has brought it to the fore. To hold that all of the clergy, in the ACA, are poised to jump "over the cliff" like lemmings, is premature and inacurate. This is an unfortunate whitewash.

To remain in the ACA is to prevent the bullies, charlatans and Christian Campbell-ette's from taking flocks over the precipice into the Ordinary-nuts.

For staying in these muddy and bloody trenches there need be no glory, no earthly reward. It is their Anglican duty, as they have sworn to do before God. Please give them credit for keeping their vows and standing firm against tyranny.

All in God's time, good sirs.

Fr, Frank +Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18902745.post-26700487458212678372010-06-16T17:53:20.358-04:002010-06-16T17:53:20.358-04:00Our message to the TAC/ACA must be very clear. Our sense of who we are is real. Here you will find certainty, evangelism, mission and a commitment to the Catholic faith from our Bishops, priests and laity.

If you don't want to swim the Tiber with the TAC primate, and want to be ministered to by priests who take their ordination vows very seriously, then come and you will be welcomed within the ACC.Deacon Down Underhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14903366446394957630noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18902745.post-88467221278860176152010-06-16T17:26:36.027-04:002010-06-16T17:26:36.027-04:00I think it is reasonable to say that those who aut...I think it is reasonable to say that those who author articles on this Blog have presented what in time will prove to be the facts regarding +Benedicts XVI Apostolic Constitution.

As one outside of the “Anglican” Communion but an observer for Thirty years, I can assure you that what these fine Clergy of the Continuing Anglican Church write is correct in regards to the position of the Roman Church.

There is with Rome, no “inter-communion.” There is with Rome only CONVERSION and SUBMISSION; nothing more nothing less. Don’t take my word for it, look at the historical record.

What “LKW” wrote: “Esthetes and dilettantes dreaming of a restoration of the Sarum Rite (or is it Sarum Use, pray forgive), thrice married former Protestant ministers, romantics and antiquarians and eccentrics of every hue” is smack on. The Roman Communion has enough of her own fruits and nuts; she certainly doesn’t need to import them from outside. In the end, after the “vetting” is done, and the fog lifts, I expect a meager handful with “Cross the Tiber” as is the common term; much like the present “Anglican Use” Parishes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18902745.post-7643806262184653402010-06-16T12:18:24.808-04:002010-06-16T12:18:24.808-04:00The Chicago Reader asks why they don't become ...The Chicago Reader asks why they don't become honest and change their name. My response would be: how can you become honest when you have no idea what that really is. The clergy at least all took the standard Anglican oaths to keep the "doctrine, discipline and worship . . . .of the Church," vows which they never kept and never had any intention of keeping as their real intention was to pursue the high camp fantasy of pseudo-papalism, popery without the pope.

Well now they say they want the pope, too, but does the pope (or, and more importantly, does the curia) want them. For the answer to that we will have to wait and see. My major problem with it is the shadow it casts upon those of us yet committed to classical prayer book and biblical Anglicanism. As they have since the late nineteenth century, people outside the Church look at them and reach the conclusion that all of us are the same. The damage that they do is visited upon the rest of us, especially those whose souls the substance of classical Christianity found only in Anglicanism.

Fortunately we still have Fathers Hart, Kirby, Nalls, and Wells as evidence that we still have real Anglicanism in those few fortunate places.Canon Tallishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05182884929479435751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18902745.post-64332409174126414492010-06-16T10:41:00.769-04:002010-06-16T10:41:00.769-04:00It seems the Orlando folks are now openly admittin...It seems the Orlando folks are now openly admitting that they have left Anglicanism behind. If they (he?) stand with Bro. S. the message is clear: Convert, for Anglicanism is completely invalid.

So, why don't they become honest and change their name?

-Chicago ReaderAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18902745.post-74589260359062522662010-06-16T07:59:31.640-04:002010-06-16T07:59:31.640-04:00It occurred to me that both Arnold Harris Matthew ...It occurred to me that both Arnold Harris Matthew and Rene Vilatte (the patriarchs of what came to be known as Episcopi Vagantes) spent their lives on the fringe of the Roman Catholic Church, bobbing in and out of it, seeking some kind of recognition from it, as if it were in sole possession of the Philosopher's Stone which changes base metals into gold.

We see the same mentality at work with the coterie which hangs around The Former Anglican. Esthetes and dilettantes dreaming of a restoration of the Sarum Rite (or is it Sarum Use, pray forgive), thrice married former Protestant ministers, romantics and antiquarians and eccentrics of every hue.

The analogy between the ethnic parishes (formerly found in northeastern and upper midwestern cities of the USA) and this not-yet-existent "Ordinariate" scheme cannot work simply because the oddballs dipping their little toe into the Tiber do not have the numbers, the necessary critical mass, to command any respect. Italians, Poles, Germans and Irish migrated in vast numbers. When they formed sociological communities, then ethnic parishes were a logical development. But the number of potential Anglican converts (even if all of TAC, even if all of TEC were to follow that route) are not enough to form any cultural ghetto. When have you ever seen an Anglican restaurant, barber shop or bowling league?

But in one respect the analogy is sound. The ethnic parishes which flourished in the early 20th century are now fading away, thanks to cultural assimilation and urban change. The large number of RC churches up for sale
(helping to pay off legal bills) proves my point.

LKWAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18902745.post-36217402469621508572010-06-15T23:32:55.362-04:002010-06-15T23:32:55.362-04:00I am extremely glad, Father Hart, that you are cap...I am extremely glad, Father Hart, that you are capable of being so sane about this. And also so patient. It would and is beyond me, but I think that is because I knew the Roman Church only too well before I discovered the Book of Common Prayer and Anglicanism.

What continues to astound me is that there is still such a thing as the ACA and anyone yet in it. But then I remember my own reaction when I attended Bishop Morrison's parish and knew that if that was what was going to pass for Anglicanism I had better, for the sake of charity, stay home and read the offices alone.Canon Tallishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05182884929479435751noreply@blogger.com
