I, too, have seen his evil manifest. One of the reasons that I don't like Halloween is that it has come to express a lightness of attitude toward the powers if evil. That is unwise. Yes, he is defeated already at the Cross and Resurrection of our Lord, but he seems not to know it yet, and remains dangerous. Christians are authorized to tell him to flee, jst as you did.
