A Sad Parting

I bid your prayers for my wife Susana, my children Andrea and Winslow and for me in the coming days and weeks.

The day after I created this blog, Susana told me that she could no longer live with me and that she wanted to start life anew on her own. She formally did that this afternoon, as she left to spend the first night in her new flat just 10 minutes away. The children will join her as soon as the rest of the furniture is moved in a day or so.

I did not create this blog as a medium for online self therapy, but to provide a place where people can share news and ideas and, hopefully, be nourished in their faith. And I mean to keep it that way.

But please pray for the four of us as each of us begins a new chapter in our life; that we might have the strength, courage and wisdom to know and do what is right and to be as loving and caring for each other as we can be.

God sustains.

Father Almighty, look down upon this family and touch each member with thy loving mercies. Let thine arm embrace Albion, Susana, Andrea, and Winslow, and bring each of them into the center of thy will for their lives. Let thine everlasting mercy be demonstrated in the working out of this situation, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Albion.

This is indeed sad news and please know we will be remembering you in our prayers. May the grace and mercy of God be worked out in the lives of all of you.

Albion, I cannot tell you how sorry I am to read this. Many, many years ago my parents divorced, and it was a tough time for us kids. I respect them for mutually deciding that we were not going to be put into the middle of this, and they kept to it despite the temptations.

It was painful for all, but in the end an amicable divorce. Though it was very strange to come home one day, a few years later, to find my mother, father, stepmother and stepfather in the front yard, amiably chatting.

Since then we have had many Christmases together, and my parents came to realize that if they'd known then what they know now, there never would have been a divorce.

And despite my father's fears of a poor example, this has just given us "kids" a stronger resolve against divorce.

None of which helps you now, but you and your family will be in my prayers.

Oh Albion, how terrible for you all!

Of course, you and your family will be in my prayers at this time.

I am really really sorry to hear that. My prayers are with you and your family.

Having been through a divorce myself, I know how painful it can be.
